250 Word Synopsis of The Fourth Awakening

A recently divorced and "retired" Pulitzer prize winning  journalist, Penelope Drayton Spence, receives a call from an old college friend who is now the Managing Editor of the Washington Post. There is a rumor that thirty of the country's top scientists are missing but at the request of the President the paper has spiked the story.

When the editor discovers his main print competitors have ignored the presidential  request, he turns to his old friend to conduct an off the record investigation. Penelope's first stop is the Charleston Naval Brig where the man in the middle of all of this, Michael Walker, is being held incognito.  Walker is one of the richest men in the world; much of his wealth coming from his work as one the US government's top defense contractors.

With the help of her political connections, Penelope gets into the high security wing of the brig to interview Walker and soon discovers why the government wants to bury the "Hermes Project".  He and his scientist have created a device that can manipulate the mind of the masses from insanity to enlightenment.

After Walker escapes from the brig, Penelope makes the life altering decision to follow the story and joins him in his quest to tell the world about the Hermes Project.  This starts a breakneck cross-county dash with Homeland Security nipping at their heels.

When they arrive in Jackson Hole, Walker gives the world a firsthand demonstration of the power of Hermes and the power of thought.
